Supplies Drive for Residential Homes

InVision News

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is challenging us all, but InVision DSPs have always demonstrated a particular resilience to these types of events. It’s because of their strength, dedication, and courage that the people we serve are continuing to receive their crucial support services.

As DSPs implement additional hygiene and sanitation precautions to keep the people we support in our residential homes healthy and safe, our reserved supplies to help them accomplish these tasks are quickly depleting. We are actively securing personal protective equipment (PPE) and other supplies from multiple sources to ensure we have enough to protect our DSPs and the people we serve, but we’re also asking for donations from our staff, friends, families, and other supporters to reinforce our stock of these necessary items.

Personal protective and other medical equipment

InVision is committed to keeping our DSPs protected and safe from contagions while working with the people we support who may be infected or sick, and you can help us by donating any of the following:

  1. Face masks (disposable or cloth)
  2. Disposable medical coveralls or gowns
  3. Digital temporal thermometers
  4. Disposable probe thermometer covers

As the nation struggles with equipment shortages, many people have begun crafting their own face masks. If you are interested in making cloth face masks for our DSPs and people we support—or donating bandanas for DSPs to fashion masks themselves—we will also accept them.

Sanitation and hygiene

Thorough hand-washing and regular disinfection of frequently-touched household items is key to protecting against the coronavirus and other dangerous pathogens. Our DSPs are consistently upholding these practices while reminding the people we support of the importance of personal hygiene. Help DSPs and the people we support stay healthy by donating any of the following items:

  1. Disinfecting wipes
  2. Disinfectant spray
  3. Hand and dish soap
  4. Hand sanitizer and lotion
  5. Tissues, toilet paper, and paper towels

Games and activities

Even though home is the safest place we can be right now, no one is immune to so-called “cabin fever.” Many of us, including the people we support, aren’t used to spending so much time indoors, and we’re quickly running out of ways to keep ourselves entertained and engaged.

As the people we support and their DSPs cope with the change, we’re hoping to provide them with some new and exciting activities to help pass the time:

  1. Puzzles, board games, or block activities, like LEGO sets
  2. Art supplies (coloring books; paint and paint brushes; drawing or construction paper; colored pencils or crayons; glue sticks or tape; and more)
  3. Sensory items (putties, squeezables, water beads, sequined items, kinetic sand, and more)
  4. Gardening supplies (seeds, starter plants, pots, potting soil, watering cans, and more)

Where do I donate my items?

If you are able to donate any of these items, or direct us to a source where we may purchase PPE, please email the Marketing & Communications Department at marketing@invisionhs.org.

Thank you for your continued support of InVision during this difficult time.
